In fact, Michelle Yim had romantically linked with her long time reel lover, Damien Lau. But Michelle says, "Let's not rake up the past. "
ONE OF THE MAIN CHARACTERS OF “EIGHT HEROES”: GUAN YU LOU/KWAN YUK LAU * (Played by LIU Song Ren / Damian LAU Chung Yan)
GUAN Yu Lou/KWAN Yuk Lau (alias: The Wild Poet and Superb Swordsman)
Yu Lou/Yuk Lau is 40 years of age, and is Tie Xin’s/Teet Sum’s senior fellow student, learning from the same teacher of martial arts. He has very good kung fu, as good as Tie Xin/Teet Sum. He has an undisciplined lifestyle; it is hard to get to know him because he travels all over the place, and comes and goes without a trace. Others describe him to be “I kill those whom the gods won’t kill; I take pity on those whom others won’t pity”.
He is multi-talented. He recites poetry, performs magic, and often brings surprises to people. On the surface, he is spoiled and wants his own way; in fact he is very focused in terms of love. He loves only one woman and she is his junior fellow student, Jing Rong/Ching Yung.
Yu Lou/Yuk Lau and Tie Xin/Teet Sum are not on good terms with each other. Yu Lou loves Jing Rong/Ching Yung, but she only loves Tie Xin. However, Tie Xin does not return Jing Rong’s love and breaks her heart. Because of this she becomes a nun. Seeing the way Jing Rong is treated, Yu Lou hates Tie Xin and swears to do everything to oppose Tie Xin – if Tie Xin goes east, he turns west; he is against everything which Tie Xin supports; whoever is Tie Xin’s friend is his enemy…. The bottom line is, he wants forever to argue with and annoy Tie Xin.
Later on in the story, Tie Xin asks for Yu Lou’s participation in serving in the “Heroes” cause. It is only after much persuasion, and a promise by Tie Xin to perform a task for Yu Lou, that Yu Lou finally agrees to help.

Being in the entertainment industry for more than 30 years, Damien Lau has acted in 50 over serials. If you were to ask him which serial was the most unforgettable, he would not be able to answer you. He professes that he has forgotten all the little incidents while filming <翡翠恋曲>.This is because Damien has a “side-effect” after filming-selective memory loss.
Double memory loss:
In <翡翠恋曲>, Damien’s character suffers from memory loss after jumping down a building. In addition, after Damien has finished filming a show, he would encounter selective memory loss. For example, the reporter heard from Flora Chan that she and Damien had a few “暴肚”scenes which both were very satisfied with. However, when this incident was mentioned to Damian, he did not a slight impression of it! He even asked if there was such a scene and refuted by saying, “Who remembers so many things! I don’t know why every time I finish filming a show, I seem to be automatically brainwashed, such that I don’t remember what I have filmed. If that is not the case, who can remember so many things? A lot of people ask me if I can remember things of the past, I really cannot remember! ”
蚀本演出:
Damien said that filming <翡翠恋曲> was really very 蚀本 as when he is acting out the character “Liang Bo Yan”, he has to hide 4 to 5 personality changes under one personality. However, Damien doesn’t think that Bo Yan is good or bad, it is just “人性的表现”.”Humans are like that, in a certain point in life there would be incidences which leads him to make mistakes. There are a lot of things which he himself also did not want them to happen. Having done filming for so many years, I haven’t met a character who has so many changes as Bo Yan does. I have to spend a considerable effort to act out this character, so I told the producer Wang Wei, it is 蚀本 this time.
跳楼有阴影:
Although Damien has “memory loss”, he still has not forgotten the ending where he had to jump off the building. “That scene required me to carry a baby and sit on a 10 metres high balcony and get ready to jump. There was no support nearby that I could hold on to and plus the phobia I had from filming suicide jumping scenes in the past, it was really a frightening experience. Although I was tied to a very strong rope, but I thought if I really fell, the rope would really break.” Want to know why Damien jumped in the ending and if he survived the jump? Then watch the show to find out.

(12/6/2004) Dr. James Wong Jim's memorial ended at 6PM last night. Attending artists aside from speakers Alan Tam Wing Lun and Liza Wong Ming Chuen also included Pak Shuet Sin, Brigitte Lin (Lam Ching Ha), Lydia Shum Din Ha, Tong Hok Tak, Mui Shuet Si, Lee Heung Kam, Kwan Kuk Ying, Winnie Yu Jung, Law Kar Ying, Nat Chan Pak Cheung, Kenny Bee (Chung Chun To), Pang Kin Sun, Sheila Chan Suk Lan, Clifton Ko Chi Sum, Mui Siu Wai, Margie Tsang Wa Sin, Frances Yip Lai Yi, Eliza Chan Kit Ling, Ricky Hui Koon Ying, Damien Lau Chung Yun, Donnie Summer (Ha Siu Sing), Law Dai Yau, Emotion Cheung Kam Ching, Alice Lau Nga Lai, Lau Siu Ming, Hins Cheung King Hin, Candy Yu On On, Sharon Kwok Sau Wan, Leung Si Ho, On Tak Juen, Vincent Kuk Tak Siu, Lawrence Cheng Tan Shui, Ng Yu, Wong Yuk Man and Ching Siu Tung. Ronald Cheng Chung Kei, Juk Man Kwan, Liu Kai Chi and Chan Man Yi, Juno Mak Chun Lung and Tai Chi arrived late.

Last day was the Lantern Festival (Yuen Siu Jit). On that day, "World's Finest" director Wong Jing and leading casts Wallace Huo, Tammy Chen, Damian Lau, Roger Kwok, Michelle Ye because all are rising in popularity, so each and every one of them had to spend that festive day working. They all agreed that seeing the lantern props, and adding on the meal and warm festive day, it is already enough to be happy.
The other day, the group decided to make use of their time together in Taiwan, so they took a Lantern Festival group picture, only wishing that everyone entering into the Golden Chicken (Rooster year) and Lantern Festival for the year to go smoothly. On the day of the shoot, everyone upon seeing the round-bellied Fortune God (Choi Sun), they all immediately charged towards it and tried to take it. In the end it was Wong Jing who most resembled the figure of Fortune God that won over and got the Fortune God. Seeing the moment he snatched the Fortune God away, he smiles widely and comforts the cast by saying, "I'm going to keep Fortune God to continue filming more productions, and you guys can have more series to film, so that way we all get to have fortune!" Everyone upon hearing that seemingly thinks it makes sense and decides that would be a good way to settle it. So they changed their target, some trying to take the golden egg, some lighting the lanterns, some even taking the golden chicken, laughingly saying that without the chicken there would be no egg, swearing that they would need a especially gold egg laying of a super artist (assuming it's Roger, 'cause he's holding onto the golden eggs).
On the day of the Lantern Festival, Wong Jing had to fly back and forth from Hong Kong and Beijing, working hard at writing scripts, and having meetings with the cast and crew, claiming his title as the most capable, fat Fortune God. Wallace gave up his vacation day to attend the Lantern Festival gathering, and Tammy taking the time from currently filming for TVB's ancient serial in Beijing, says, "Because I had taken time off earlier to vacation in Japan, then heading back to Taiwan for 'World's Finest' promotions, and since my contract with my management says that I can't take anymore days off, so on the Lantern Festival I have to obediently undertake the event, and can't counteract, but seeing the red prop lanterns can be considered as celebrating the Lantern Festival!"
Once he finishes promotions in Taiwan, Damian will head back to Hong Kong to film "The Eight Great Heroes", and making up the scenes he missed from taking time off for promotions. Roger will head back to Hong Kong to film the sequel to "Square Pegs", temporarily abandoning argumentative other-half Tammy, heading back into the arms of former partner Jessica Hsuan. Michelle will be heading back to Hong Kong to have a birthday get-together with her fans, and will then start absorbing herself into her new series.
Thinking back to "World's Finest" filming scenes, Roger's most memorable moment was when he arrived on set one day and found out that he had to film a scene of him looking inside his underwear to read a martial arts manual script. That day he was wearing a black T-back underwear, and wanted to argue it off, willing to put up a fight, but in ancient times they just didn't have black T-back underwear, so for self-protection, Roger had to ask a crew member to look for a big white cloth, and wrapping and tying himself, he ended up forming layers after layers, before he was satisfied with hiding his small undie, but inside his pants were bulging like he was wearing an adult-size diaper, Sing Si Fei (Roger's character name).
Michelle laughs saying, there was one scene in which she is on the ground helping the emperor Tang Siu take off his pants, and while she was on the ground she had to look up and see his important area which was the most embarrassing scene! Speaking of the scene, Michelle could not hold back her laughter and fell on the table. She says, that day Tang Siu also didn't know that he was going to film that scene, so he was only wearing a small white underwear when arriving on set. With the director's camera angling, and still having me beg so close, the joke on the two of us was so embarrassing, the crew even laughed out at us when we were filming. The first time the lighting man laughed out causing us to re-take the scene, the second time the cameraman laughed to the point that the film was shaken so we had to re-take the scene again, and the third time the director couldn't take it anymore and laughed out loud, causing me extreme embarrassment, and my eyes were starting to get cross-eyed. After finishing filming that scene, Tang Siu and I couldn't face anybody, so were ran off!

In an interview, when asked why not have a baby after being married so many years, Liu said that he had no courage to have the baby because it takes great responsibilty to be parent. Besides, because having a baby changes everything, he was also not ready for such life changes.
However, he said, although he didn't have a baby, he had adopted about 10 children in China. When being asked the reason, Liu said he believed that helping a child is helping his family. His mother always taught him that and he also thought so. So he adopted children from many years ago.
With his latest TVB series UPS AND DOWNS hitting as high as 42 points in the ratings, Damien Lau Chung-Yun has been successful in television for over twenty years. He feels that it is a combination of hard work, luck, place, and friendship. Lau: "I've seen a lot of people with talent who have not had luck. Especially in the entertainment business, you don't really have to rely on hard work to be a great success! When I first started out, I was a bit lazy. But luckily, this didn't last very long. I worked hard for my success. Luck and timing are big factors too."
"Actually, I'm really not suited for the entertainment circle! First, I'm not really agressive. Second, I don't really know how to publicize myself. To have the success that I have today, luck has really helped me a lot. Even though I don't talk too much and I don't know too many people in the business, I still have a bunch of good friends. I just don't like to drop their names."
To Lau, health is more important than wealth. Lau: "In the past, I had a dream to have a home in Clearwater Bay. Upon reflection, I've realized that it was an abusrd dream. I realized that no matter how much I make, I won't have as much as Lee Ka-Sing (SANNEY: Big shot HK industrialist.) Health is my greatest fortune. I believe that if you have your health even the richest man may be jealous of you. I'm really proud of my health. It's something you need to cherish."

Twenty years after forming one of the most memorable couples of the 1980s in GING WAH CHUN MUNG (lit.GING WAH SPRING DREAM; left), Lisa Wong Ming-Chuen (centre) and Damien Lau Chung-Yun (right) are set to re-unite in the new TVB series FUN MI YI SAP NIN (lit. COMA TWENTY YEARS). The series, scheduled to start shooting in late June, will star Wong and Lau as a husband and wife who are seperated when Wong is left in a coma after a car accident. In the ensuing twenty years, Lau marries his secretary (to be played by Louisa So Yuk-Wah). Lau is then put in a difficult position when Wong suddenly wakes up. The twenty episode series will also star Flora Chan Wai-Shan. Earlier this year, Lau was supposed to reunite with Wong in the TVB series LUI TING DAI YAT KWAN (lit. FIRST LINE OF FURY). However, scheduling problems led Lau to be replaced by Danny Lee Sau-Yin.
Nicola Cheung Sun-Yu (left) and Damien Lau Chung-Yun (centre) attend an event promoting their TVB serial MO YUP LAU MUN (lit. JOBLESS TENANTS). Lau does not know what is going on with the production of GREED OF MAN 2000. He does know, however, that he hopes to work again someday with Lisa Wong Ming-huen.

In television ratings news, TVB continues its dominance as none of ATV's prime time programs was able to break the 10 ratings point threshold. TVB's WITNESS TO A PROSECTION led the way with 38 ratings points. UPS AND DOWNS (MO YIP LAU MAN) starring Christine Ng Wing-Mei along with Timmy Hung Tin-Ming, Damien Lau Chung-Yun, and Nicola Cheung Sun-Yu (left to right in right image) received 32 ratings points. At one time during the broadcast, however, it received a high of 42 ratings points.

After sixty-four performances, the stage play RED BOAT closed its run the night before last as well. Sammi Cheng Sau-Man, Anita Mui Yim-Fong, Damian Lau Chung-Yun, and Jade Leung Jing were just some of the stars who took in the final show. As the curtain closed, the stars of the play Connie Chan Bo-Chu (centre) and Carina Lau Ka-Ling (right) could not hold back their tears. After resisting for several minutes, lead actor Tony Leung Ka-Fai also started to cry. Chan: "We've been doing this together for so long. Now that it is coming to an end, I feel a sense of loss." By contrast, the wedding on JUNG WAN TIN HA does take place as the characters of Damian Lau Chung-Yan and Teresa Mak Ka-Kei marry in the precense of Mak's older brother (Waise Lee Chi-Hung). Mak, who played Fong Yi in DUKE OF MT. DEER 2000, was asked if she would be taking up Dicky Cheung Wai-Kin's offer of a free trip to Japan. Mak: "I'm going to be very busy with this series for the next little while so it'll probably be a bit later until I can go. Actually, I would rather have an opportunity to work with Dicky again. Maybe we could all get together for a dinner. I think everyone would be happy with that too." Related images (courtesy Oriental Daily News unless otherwise indicated):

Actor Damian Lau Chung-Yun is paying both sides of the fence in the television ratings war. Early yesterday morning, he was at TVB Studios promoting HEAVEN SWORD AND DRAGON SABRE with co-star Mi Suet (left). Later that day, he was back at work on the set of the ATV series JUNG WAN TIN HA (lit. ALL AROUND HEAVEN AND EARTH). In HEAVEN EARTH AND DRAGON SABRE, Lau plays Cheung Mo-Gei's father Cheung Tsui-Shan. The ageless Mi plays his wife Yun So-So.
Looking to build up momentum for its anniversary month in November, The Sun reports that TVB is going to Lisa (The Treasure of TVB) Wong Ming-Chuen and Damian Lau Chung-Yun (left) as their drama THE AWAKENING STORY is slated to take over when SEVEN SISTERS runs its course. The series, about a coma patient (Wong) who awakes to a different world, re-unites Wong and Lau for the first time since their classic series YESTERDAY'S GLITTER (GING WAH CHUN MUNG). Maggie Cheung Ho-Yi and Joe Ma Tak-Chung co-star. Complimenting THE AWAKENING STORY will be the romantic comedy series IN THE REALM OF SUCCESS.
Back from working in Thailand, Damian Lau Chung-Yun joined AWAKENING STORY co-stars Liza Wang Ming-Chuen (centre), Tavia Yeung Yi and Choi Ji-Kin at a promotional event for the series yesterday. After a slow start, AWAKENING STORY is performing better in the ratings. Last week, the series had an average rating of 31 ratings points -- up six points from the 26 ratings points score the week previous. Commenting on the series, Wang remarked: "The thing that makes me the most happy is that we're getting good word of mouth. As for the ratings, I think the results are respectable. Of course, I hope that the ratings will continue to improve as the series concludes!"
Liza Wang Ming-Chuen's newest drama AWAKENING STORY debuted the night before last on TVB. To celebrate the event, Wang invited her castmates to her home for a party to watch the premiere together. The party started at seven in the evening and did not break up until one in the morning. While co-stars Joe Ma Tak-Chung, Maggie Cheung Ho-Yi, Helena Law Lan and Tavia Yeung Yi (left to right in left image with Wang in the middle) were in attendance, Damian Lau Chung-Yun was not. Explaining his absence, Wang said: "Chung-Jai (Lau) is not in Hong Kong. That's why he isn't here. Anyway, everyone is having a lot of fun here tonight. I think that we may have another party here when the concluding episode airs!"
Julian Cheung revealed that he will soon start work on a new TVB series called SAI KWAN DAI SIU (lit. SAI KWAN BIG AND SMALL). Charmaine Sheh Si-Man, Damian Lau Chung-Yan and Gigi Chiu Nga-Chi co-star. Talking to reporters about the project, Cheung remarked that he was looking forward to working with Lau and Chiu. Cheung: "Damian Lau and Gigi Chiu are two of my idols. Whenever I hear the name Chiu Nga-Chi, I think of Fung Ching-Ching (Chiu's character in THE BUND). I might even ask her for her autograph." Gigi Chiu Nga-Chi, Damian Lau Chung-Yan, Julian Cheung Chi-Lam and Charmaine Sheh Si-Man gathered yesterday at TVB Studios for a costuming session for their new series SAI KWAN DAI SIU (lit. SAI KWAN BIG AND SMALL). Produced by Lee Tim-Sing, the drama re-unites Chiu and Lau for the first time since their hit 1979 historical drama GOD OF SABRE (DO SUN). It is also Chiu's first TVB series in over fifteen years. She last worked for TVB in the 1985 series REINCARNATED PRINCESS (KWOON SAI YUM). Asked what it was like to be back at TVB, Chiu answered: "I'm very happy. This doesn't feel like work for me. I look around and I see so many of my friends. It's like I'm at home."
By contrast Charmaine Sheh admitted to reporters that she felt a little unsettled by the presence of Chiu and Lau. Sheh: "I'm very nervious because I'm working with two of my idols."
Reporters covering the TVB beat were given a surprise yesterday as Gigi Chiu Nga-Chi (right) was spotted at TVB's new Tseung Kwan O district studios. Speaking to reporters, Chiu revealed that, beginning in March, she will be working on her first TVB series in eighteen years. Entitled SAI KWAN DAI SIU (lit. SAI KWAN BIG AND SMALL), the series is being produced by Lee Tim-Sing and co-stars Damian Lau Chung-Yan, Julian Cheung Chi-Lam and Charmaine Sheh Si-Man. Stressing that she is not looking to make a comeback, Chiu told reporters that Lee approached her with the role and, after seeing the script, she thought it would be worth doing. She also wanted an opportunity to work with Damian Lau once again. Chiu and Lau have not worked together since they made the TVB period drama GOD OF SABRE (DO SUN) in 1979. Chiu's last TVB series was the 1985 historical fantasy REINCARNATED PRINCESS (KWOON SAI YUM). Related image (courtesy Oriental Daily News):

- The day before yesterday, Damian Lau Chung-Yan and Shirley Yeung Si-Kei continued work on their new TVB historical drama YING HUNG DO SIU NIN (lit. HEROIC SABRE YOUNG YEARS). Reportedly, Lau spent the day carrying Yeung in his arms (left) leaving him with a stiff right arm when the day was done. Supposedly, Yeung felt bad for Lau because she has gained weight lately from doing nothing but work. She now tips the scales at a monstrous one hundred pounds. (SANNEY: Sigh. Public health officials in Hong Kong have a long way to go when it comes to promoting the idea of a healthy body image.)
TVB Beat: In its latest edition, a local magazine has reported that Connie Chiu Nga-Chi is having an affair with co-star Damien Lau Chung-Yun and, because of that, Chiu's marriage to Melvin Wong Kam-Sun was in trouble. The report was based on various sightings of Chiu and Lau riding in the same car. Yesterday, at the opening lens ceremony of the new TVB series SAI KWAN DAI SIU (lit. SAI KWAN BIG AND SMALL), Melvin Wong showed up to help Chiu and Lau dispel the rumours (from left to right in left image). Explaining that she and Lau are simply carpooling to work, Chiu said: "He lives on Waterloo Road and I live in Shatin so we decided to car pool to work. Our assistants are in the car with us at all times. Besides, my husband was the one who helped me into the car!"

TVB Beat: Flora Chan Wai-Shan, Damian Lau Chung-Yan, Maggie Siu Mei-Kei, Kevin Cheng Ka-Wing, Harwick Lau Hoi-Wai and Niki Chow Lai-Kei went to TVB Studios yesterday for a costuming session for a yet-to-be-titled TVB series produced by Wong Sum-Wai. In the drama, Chan plays a jewelry designer who becomes entangled in a love triangle with an older man (Damian Lau) and a younger man (Kevin Cheng). Asked if she would date outside of her age group in real life, Chan replied: "I wouldn't mind dating someone who is older than me. I wouldn't mind dating someone younger than me either. But, he can't be too much younger than me. Two, three years younger would be OK."
