With his latest TVB series UPS AND DOWNS hitting as high as 42 points in the ratings, Damien Lau Chung-Yun has been successful in television for over twenty years. He feels that it is a combination of hard work, luck, place, and friendship. Lau: "I've seen a lot of people with talent who have not had luck. Especially in the entertainment business, you don't really have to rely on hard work to be a great success! When I first started out, I was a bit lazy. But luckily, this didn't last very long. I worked hard for my success. Luck and timing are big factors too."
"Actually, I'm really not suited for the entertainment circle! First, I'm not really agressive. Second, I don't really know how to publicize myself. To have the success that I have today, luck has really helped me a lot. Even though I don't talk too much and I don't know too many people in the business, I still have a bunch of good friends. I just don't like to drop their names."
To Lau, health is more important than wealth. Lau: "In the past, I had a dream to have a home in Clearwater Bay. Upon reflection, I've realized that it was an abusrd dream. I realized that no matter how much I make, I won't have as much as Lee Ka-Sing (SANNEY: Big shot HK industrialist.) Health is my greatest fortune. I believe that if you have your health even the richest man may be jealous of you. I'm really proud of my health. It's something you need to cherish."
